Porto San Rocco (Muggia – Trieste), July 7, 2017 – After a long wait for wind on the second to the last day of ORC Worlds Trieste 2017 World Championships for Offshore Sailing, the three classes finally put a sixth race behind them, breaking up the top of the overall rankings for class C. The series concludes tomorrow when discards come into play after one regatta and this year’s champions are established.
Porto San Rocco (Muggia – Trieste), July 5, 2017 – One race for the 116 boats registered for ORC Worlds Trieste 2017, the World Championship for offshore sailing currently underway in the Gulf of Trieste. Another day of light winds never exceeding 8 knots, but enough to create dueling boats from the beginning and bring some interesting changes to the provisional rankings in all three classes.
Another two races for all classes in the ORC Worlds Trieste 2017 in wind-poor conditions but plenty of surprises. Wind never exceeded 8 knots oscillating between 280° and 250° keeping action between the buoys exciting.

ORC Worlds Trieste 2017 began its first regatta today with 116 boats participating. The series of sailing events, which will determine the world champion for offshore sailing, takes place all this week in the gulf of Trieste and Porto San Rocco, the main venue for this year’s activities. More than 1200 sailors have come to Trieste from 18 different nations to participate in this year’s championships.

After over a year of preparation, organizers from six regional clubs near Trieste, the Porto San Rocco Marina, and the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) are pleased that 115 entries from 19 countries have accepted their invitations and come to compete at the ORC Worlds Trieste 2017. This fleet is divided into three classes - 17 entries in Class A and 49 entries each in Classes B and C – with World Champion crowns to be awarded in each class after the conclusion of racing on Saturday 8 July.

At one month before the start of the competition to determine this year's ORC World Champions, the names of the teams admitted to the regatta were officially selected and announced using assessment criteria drafted specifically by the Organizing Committee in agreement with the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC).
